Recap: Orem Tigers vs. Foothill Falcons
The Orem Tigers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fourth straight loss. They fell 56-48 to Foothill. Orem was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Foothill apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2015.
Several Tigers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jax Allen, who scored 11 points. Trey Hiatt was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Even though they lost, Orem were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Foothill only pulled down an offensive rebound.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Foothill to victory, but perhaps none more so than Zak Abdalla, who scored 14 points. The match was Abdalla's ninth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Shawn Salazar, who scored 15 points.
Orem now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Foothill, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
Orem will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Salem Hills at 7:00 p.m. on January 3, 2024. One thing working in Salem Hills' favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season. Foothill is on the road again on Wednesday and play against Bellarmine College Prep at 7:00 p.m. on December 27th. Bellarmine College Prep will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in their respective state's rankings (they are ranked 302nd in California, while Foothill is ranked 13th in Nevada).
