Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Wayne). They put the hurt on the Fairland Dragons with a sharp 14-7 win on Wednesday. With that victory, the Pioneers brought their scoring average up to 6.5 runs per game.
Wayne got a massive performance out of Kylee Copley, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. What's more, Copley posted two doubles, the most she's had since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Lexi Napier, who went 2-for-4 with four runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Wayne was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .414. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
The win (which was Wayne's fourth in a row) raised their record to 8-7. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Fairland, they dropped their record down to 0-15 with the loss, which was their fifth straight at home.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wayne will face off against Chapmanville Regional at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Fairland, they will take on Chesapeake at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
