Baseball Game Preview: Cuyahoga Heights Red Wolves vs. United Golden Eagles

The Cuyahoga Heights Red Wolves will venture away from home to face off against the United Golden Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Cuyahoga Heights is coming into the game hot, having won their last seven games.

Cuyahoga Heights proved they can win big last Tuesday (they won by seven) and on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out Mapleton 1-0.

Nick Dabrowski made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over seven innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run.

Meanwhile, United suffered their biggest defeat since April 11th last Tuesday. They came up short against West Branch, falling 9-1.

United saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jason Pratt, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Cuyahoga Heights' victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-5. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for United, their loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 19-7.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Cuyahoga Heights has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.4 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like United struggles in that department as they've been averaging 9.2 strikeouts.
