Basketball Game Preview: Dekaney Wildcats vs. Aldine Mustangs

The Dekaney Wildcats will head out to square off against the Aldine Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

It was a proper cat-fight when Dekaney challenged Nimitz on Friday. Dekaney took a blow against Nimitz, falling 68-18. The Wildcats have struggled against the Cougars recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.

Despite the defeat, Dekaney saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Sophia Collins posted eight points and three steals. Collins has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played.

Meanwhile, Aldine was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 17th straight loss. They were outmatched by Spring and fell 76-13. The Mustangs were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 44-9.

Aldine's defeat dropped their record down to 1-17. As for Dekaney, their loss dropped their record down to 4-14.

Everything came up roses for Dekaney against Aldine in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, as the squad secured a 63-31 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Dekaney since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
