Basketball Recap: Neptune Beats Lacey Township for Their Third Straight Victory

Neptune won the last time they faced Lacey Township and things went their way on Thursday too. The Neptune Scarlet Fliers took down the Lacey Township Lions 63-45. Given the Scarlet Fliers' advantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 109th, while the Lions are ranked 227th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Neptune got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Christa Ramos out in front who dropped a double-double on 23 points and ten steals. Ramos has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Tyeera Howard, who went 8 of 11 en route to 17 points in addition to six boards and six steals.

The victory (which was Neptune's third in a row) raised their record to 9-10. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.3 points per game. As for Lacey Township, they moved to 6-6 with that defeat, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Neptune won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Wall Township at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Lacey Township, they will also get right back to it: they'll square off against Barnegat at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
