Softball Recap: Coconino Gets the Win

While Coconino's win against Poston Butte wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Panthers skirted past the Broncos 6-4. The victory continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Broncos: they've now won three in a row.

Norah Kennelly spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Emma Kennelly was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March of 2025. Another player making a difference was Katelynn Yazzie, who went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Coconino's record is now 5-2. As for Poston Butte, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Looking ahead, Coconino will face off against ALA - West Foothills at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Poston Butte, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Apache Junction at 3:45 p.m. on the 16th.
