Basketball Recap: Montpelier Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Kenneth Smeltzer and Hayden Sharps

Montpelier was the 45-42 winner over Edgerton when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. The Montpelier Locomotives fell 57-45 to the Edgerton Bulldogs on Thursday.

Hayden Sharps and Kenneth Smeltzer certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Sharps almost dropped a double-double with 14 points and nine boards, while Smeltzer went 7-for-10 on his way to 15 points. Smeltzer is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 46% in the last 12 games he's played. C.J. Fidler was another key player, putting up nine points.

Montpelier's defeat dropped their record down to 17-6. As for Edgerton, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 16-8.

Montpelier does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Edgerton, they have already played their next matchup, a 47-37 victory against Edon on the 1st.
