            Football Recap: Maranacook Black Bears vs. John Bapst Memorial Crusaders        
        
		
        
        
            Maranacook played a tough  game  on Saturday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They took a  blow against the John Bapst Memorial Crusaders, falling  47-20. While losing is never fun, the Black Bears can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage  in MaxPreps' Maine football rankings (they are ranked 52nd, while the Crusaders are ranked sixth).
 This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to  Thomas Curtis and  Malcolm Butler. Curtis rushed for 182 yards and a pair of  scores on only nine carries while  Butler rushed for 135 yards and three  TDs on only six carries. With that strong performance,  Curtis is now averaging an impressive 102  rushing yards per game.  Aiden Ouellette was in the mix  too, providing John Bapst Memorial with two touchdowns.
This is the second loss in a row for Maranacook and  nudges their season record down to 1-4. As for John Bapst Memorial, their victory was  their third straight at home, which  pushed their record up to 5-0.
 Maranacook wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next  contest,  a  42-0  loss against Freeport on the 10th. As for John Bapst Memorial, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next  matchup,  a  54-22  win against Belfast on the 11th.
