MaxPreps Top 10 Texas High School Football Games of the Week

By Randy Jennings Sep 18, 2019, 10:45am

Judson routed Steele 58-21 in 2018, reversing a trend of head-to-head dominance by the younger school.

The two most dominant San Antonio-area programs brace for their annual face-off Friday when 3-0 Steele (Cibolo) hosts 3-0 Judson (Converse) in a District 26-6A opener.

Older Judson has more championship skins on the wall, winning six state titles from 1983-2002. The shared record for state titles by a school is eight.

Steele, which came along later and did not field a varsity team in 2006, won a state title in 2010 and was runner-up in 2011 and 2016.

Martin (2-0) began the season with an eye-opening victory at Lake Travis (Austin) then used outstanding special team play to defeat a very good Hebron club.

Manvel at No. 12 Fort Bend Marshall (Missouri City)
Friday, 7 p.m., Ken Hall Stadium

The Class 4A-D1 rivalry will be renewed for the 101st time. El Campo (3-0) has a commanding 72-24 lead in the series with four ties. But Wharton (1-2) on the road upended the Ricebirds last season, 27-21.
