Softball Preview: Penn Kingsmen vs. Lake Central Indians
The Penn Kingsmen are on the road again on Saturday to play the Lake Central Indians at 1:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Penn is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. Everything went their way against South Bend St. Joseph as Penn made off with an 11-4 win. Penn's victory was all the more impressive since South Bend St. Joseph was averaging only 2.82 runs allowed on the season.
Aubrey Zachary looked comfortable as she tossed four innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two hits in six consecutive pitching appearances.
On the hitting side, Penn let Izabella Hanna and Abigail Widmar loose on the outfield. Hanna scored three runs while going 4-for-5, while Widmar scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Logan Rumble was another key contributor, scoring a run while going 1-for-4.
Meanwhile, Lake Central entered their tilt with Hobart with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They were the clear victor by a 14-6 margin over the Brickies on Thursday.

At the plate, MaKayla Van Vossen was a standout: she went 4-for-4 with a home run, five RBI, and three runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Schafer, who went 4-for-5 with a home run, two runs, and a stolen base.
