Basketball Recap: Hauser's Loss Ends Three-Game Winning Streak at Home

Hauser lost against South Decatur back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Hauser Jets fell 49-36 to the South Decatur Cougars. The matchup marked the Jets' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

When it comes to explaining why Hauser lost, don't look at Norah Berkenstock. Despite the final result, she went 5 of 12 en route to 17 points and eight steals. Berkenstock has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of June Berkenstock, who posted nine points and five rebounds.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead South Decatur to victory, but perhaps none more so than Makayla Puckett, who went 6 of 11 on her way to 19 points and three steals. The dominant performance gave Puckett a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Makalya Somers, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds.

Hauser's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-5. As for South Decatur, they now also have a winning record of 6-5.

Hauser will take on Edinburgh in a holiday battle at at 6:00 p.m. on December 20th. As for South Decatur, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 40-33 defeat against Union County on the 14th.
