Basketball Recap: Veterans Falls Short of Winder-Barrow in the Playoffs

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Veterans can now relate to. They came up short against the Winder-Barrow Bulldoggs on Wednesday, falling 72-47. While losing is never fun, the Warhawks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 164th, while the Bulldoggs are ranked 22nd).

Veterans' defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Aiden Sweenor, who posted 11 points and three steals. That's the most steals Sweenor has posted since back in January. Jaivyon Dawson was another key player, putting up ten points.

Veterans dropped their record down to 16-13 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Winder-Barrow, they are on a roll lately: they've won 17 of their last 18 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 25-3 record this season.

Veterans does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Winder-Barrow, they will face off against Lakeside on Saturday. Winder-Barrow knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven contests -- so hopefully Lakeside likes a good challenge.
