Volleyball Recap: The Woodlands Falls Despite Big Games from Megan Johnson and Olivia Hertel

The Woodlands was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They fell 3-1 to the Willis Wildkats. The Highlanders were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Wildkats apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

The Woodlands started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final score came out to 19-25, 25-23, 25-23, 25-16.

Olivia Hertel and Megan Johnson certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Hertel had 14 digs, while Johnson had 21 assists and 16 digs. Johnson has been hot for a while, having posted 13 or more assists the last ten times she's played.

The Woodlands' defeat dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Willis, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-9.

The Woodlands didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-0 victory against Vandegrift on the 28th. As for Willis, they will be playing at home against Clear Lake at 12:00 p.m. on Friday.
