Football Recap: Watersprings vs. North Gem Cowboys

Watersprings was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss dating back to last season. They had to suffer through a 64-22 loss at the hands of the North Gem Cowboys. Watersprings lost against North Gem in their previous head to head back in September, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 70-6 score last time.

Although Watersprings took the loss, they still got scores from Korban Nelson, Luke Henry, and Ryan Demcowicsz.

Watersprings wouldn't let North Gem keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force two fumbles. Watersprings can thank Nelson and Demcowicsz for forcing both of them.

Leading North Gem to victory were Craig Yost and Rusty Hatch. Yost rushed for 249 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 13.1 yards per carry, while Hatch rushed for 200 yards and three touchdowns on only 14 carries. Hatch really tore up the turf during one magnificent 75-yard run.

Watersprings' defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for North Gem, the win got them back to even at 3-3.

Watersprings will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Rockland at 4:00 p.m. on October 18th. Watersprings is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 41.3 points per game this season. As for North Gem, they will head out to challenge Mackay at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
