Softball Game Preview: Champion Golden Flashes vs. Liberty Leopards

Champion has gone a perfect 10-0 against Liberty recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Golden Flashes will welcome the Leopards at 5:00 p.m. Champion is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.2 runs per game this season.

On Friday, Champion didn't have quite enough to beat Riverside and fell 4-2. The Golden Flashes have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Gabrielle Gradishar put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 17 batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 17 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run and one double.

Gradishar wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jonna Strock, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles and one run.

Meanwhile, Liberty hadn't done well against Girard recently (they were 0-6 in their previous six matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Leopards came out on top against the Indians by a score of 9-5.

Champion's loss dropped their record down to 18-5. As for Liberty, their victory bumped their record up to 8-12.

Champion took their win against Liberty in their previous matchup back in April by a conclusive 12-0 score. Do the Golden Flashes have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Leopards turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
