Volleyball Recap: Genoa Area Comes Up Short

Genoa Area was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They lost 3-0 to the Maumee Panthers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Panthers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-2 on September 2nd.

While Genoa Area was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into Maumee's winning margin in every set. The final score came out to 25-14, 25-16, 25-22.

When it comes to explaining why Genoa Area lost, don't look at Charli Magnone. Despite the final result, she had 12 digs and three assists. Magnone has been hot, having posted ten or more digs the last six times she's played.

Leading Maumee to victory were Julia Coutcher and Mia Mitchell. Coutcher had 11 digs and seven assists, while Mitchell had five digs.

Genoa Area's defeat dropped their record down to 5-10. As for Maumee, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 10-7.

Looking ahead, Genoa Area will take on Northwood at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Maumee, they will face off against Napoleon at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
