Softball Recap: Central Catholic Gets the Win

Central Catholic posted their closest victory since May 16, 2025 on Thursday. They skirted past the Whiteford Bobcats 7-6. For the Irish, this counts as revenge for the 4-0 win the Bobcats walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

Ella Byers spent all nine innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and three unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up 13 Ks. Those 13 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

At the plate, Savannah Bell was excellent, going 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Amelia Litten, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

The victory made it two in a row for Central Catholic and bumps their season record up to 5-2. As for Whiteford, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Central Catholic will face off against Swanton at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Whiteford, they will challenge Milan at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
