Softball Game Preview: Pleasant Valley Bears vs. East Stroudsburg South Cavaliers

The Pleasant Valley Bears will head out on the road to take on the East Stroudsburg South Cavaliers at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Pleasant Valley is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Louis E. Dieruff 22-1 on Monday. The Bears haven't had any issues with the Huskies recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Maddie Abbatiello made a splash while hitting and pitching. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over four innings pitched. Abbatiello was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-5.

In other batting news, Pleasant Valley got a massive performance out of Jovie Valenzuela, who went 3-for-5 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. That triple marked the first that Valenzuela hit this season. Rylan Knapp was another key player, scoring three runs while going 4-for-5.

Pleasant Valley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .575. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher in four consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for East Stroudsburg South, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 13-6 margin over Allentown Central Catholic on Friday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Cavaliers considering their one-run performance the game before.

Pleasant Valley's record is now 6-4. As for East Stroudsburg South, their record now sits at 6-7.

Pleasant Valley took their victory against East Stroudsburg South in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 12-0 score. Do the Bears have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cavaliers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
