Basketball Recap: Pine Ridge Takes a Loss

On Saturday, Pine Ridge faced Sioux Falls Christian in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Pine Ridge Thorpes had to suffer through a 97-41 loss at the hands of the Sioux Falls Christian Chargers. The match marked the Thorpes' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Despite the loss, Pine Ridge still got an impressive performance from Marvin Richard lll, who went 11-for-27 on his way to 29 points. That was a full 70.7% of Pine Ridge's points, marking the 11th time in a row Richard lll has posted more than a third of the team's points.

This is the second loss in a row for Pine Ridge and nudges their season record down to 11-8. As for Sioux Falls Christian, their win bumped their record up to 15-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pine Ridge will face off against Todd County at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Sioux Falls Christian, they will take on Yankton at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Sioux Falls Christian's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.
