Baseball Recap: Leesville Road Takes a Loss

Leesville Road was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They came up short against the Cardinal Gibbons Crusaders, falling 13-2. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Crusaders this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 9-0 last Tuesday.

Ben Fields was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run while going 4-for-4. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Will Matthews also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Leesville Road's loss dropped their record down to 6-5. As for Cardinal Gibbons, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 10-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Leesville Road will take on Jordan at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Cardinal Gibbons, they will square off against Cary at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
