Basketball Game Preview: Effingham County Rebels vs. Evans Knights

Effingham County and Evans are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2016, but not for long. The Effingham County Rebels will head out on the road to challenge the Evans Knights at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Effingham County has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the matchup with 16 straight defeats, while Evans will come in with eight straight victories.

On Friday, Effingham County came up short against Greenbrier and fell 51-44.

Meanwhile, Evans hadn't done well against Lakeside recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Evans took down Lakeside 40-25. Given the Knights' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 75th, while the Panthers are ranked 234th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Evans pushed their record up to 21-2 with the win, which was their eighth straight on the road. As for Effingham County, their loss dropped their record down to 1-17.

Effingham County suffered a grim 58-35 defeat to Evans when the teams last played on Thursday. Can Effingham County avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
