Football Recap: Swain County Comes Up Short

Swain County easily dispatched Andrews two weeks ago, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Maroon Devils fell just short of the Robbinsville Black Knights by a score of 23-20 on Friday. The Maroon Devils have struggled against the Black Knights recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.

Despite the loss, Swain County still got an impressive performance from Zeke Glaspie, who rushed for 68 yards, and also caught one score.

The critical scores for Robbinsville came from Eli Lambert, Luke Lovin, and Isiac Collins.

Swain County's defeat dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Robbinsville, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-2.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Swain County is set to square off against their familiar foe Hayesville at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. That game will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Glaspie and Tre Graves. Meanwhile, Robbinsville will take on rival Murphy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
