Volleyball Game Preview: Loyola Cubs vs. St. Francis Golden Knights

Loyola is a perfect 4-0 against St. Francis since April of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Cubs will be playing in front of their home fans against the Golden Knights at 6:00 p.m. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Loyola sitting on 13 straight wins and St. Francis on nine.

Last Tuesday, Loyola made easy work of Chaminade and carried off a 3-0 victory.

Loyola's got stronger as the match went on, holding Chaminade to fewer and fewer points set over set. The final score came out to 25-21, 25-19, 25-17.

Meanwhile, St. Francis beat Notre Dame (SO) 3-1 on Tuesday.

St. Francis had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 19-25, 25-18, 25-12, 25-21.

Loyola pushed their record up to 25-4 with the win, which was their seventh straight on the road. As for St. Francis, their victory bumped their record up to 18-6.

Everything went Loyola's way against St. Francis when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Loyola made off with a 3-0 win. Will the Cubs repeat their success, or do the Golden Knights have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
