Soccer Recap: Gonzales Victorious

Gonzales won the last time they faced Monte Vista Christian and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Gonzales Spartans came out on top in a nail-biter against the Monte Vista Christian Mustangs, sneaking past 3-2. Given the Spartans' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 287th, while the Mustangs are ranked 742nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Gonzales hit Monte Vista Christian with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Jorge Uribe, Angel Rodriguez, and Omar Gonzalez.

Gonzales is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 6-2-3 record this season. As for Monte Vista Christian, they now have a losing record at 3-4-2.

Gonzales will look to defend their home pitch on Friday against Ceiba College Preparatory Academy at 5:30 p.m. As for Monte Vista Christian, they will head out on the road to face off against Pacific Grove at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
