Basketball Recap: Emerson Comes Up Short

Emerson was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. The matchup between them and the Lafayette County Cougars didn't end well, with the Emerson Pirates falling 52-38. The Pirates were probably out for revenge after losing 54-49 to them when the teams met back in December of 2020, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Lafayette County was led to victory by Ty Palermo and Jaylon Calton. Palermo dropped a double-double on 20 points and 14 boards, while Calton posted 13 points in addition to six rebounds and five assists. That's the most assists Calton has posted since back in January. The team also got some help courtesy of Rod Bailey, who put up ten points and five rebounds.

Emerson's defeat dropped their record down to 6-9. As for Lafayette County, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 7-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Emerson will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Prescott at 6:41 p.m. on December 27th. Lafayette County will take on Bradley in a holiday battle at at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
