Football Recap: Newbury Park Comes Up Short

Newbury Park suffered their biggest defeat since September 19, 2024 on Saturday. They had to suffer through a 47-12 loss at the hands of the Santa Margarita Eagles. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 113th, while the Eagles are ranked fifth).

Madi Lam had a dynamite game For Santa Margarita., throwing for 324 yards and six TDs while completing 83.3% of her passes. Those 324 passing yards gave Lam a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Grace Garofalo, who picked up 114 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Newbury Park now has a losing record of 1-2.

Newbury Park didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 44-16 victory against Highland on the 16th. As for Santa Margarita, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next match, a 13-0 win against San Marcos on the 16th.
