Basketball Recap: McCracken County Takes a Loss

McCracken County lost against Breckinridge County back in December of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The McCracken County Mustangs lost to the Breckinridge County Fighting Tigers on the road by a 56-40 margin. The Mustangs were down 46-20 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Leading Breckinridge County to victory were Elizabeth Grimes and Josie Mitcham. Grimes went 5-for-12 to rack up 18 points in addition to six assists and four steals, while Mitcham posted eight points along with eight steals and seven boards. Those eight steals gave Mitcham a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Rowan Radaszewski, who scored 14 points.

This is the second loss in a row for McCracken County and nudges their season record down to 15-13. As for Breckinridge County, they pushed their record up to 19-6 with the victory, which was their tenth straight at home.

Looking ahead, McCracken County will venture away from home to square off against Calloway County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Breckinridge County, they will host Elizabethtown at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
