Baseball Game Preview: Moorpark Musketeers vs. St. Bonaventure Seraphs

Moorpark has gone a perfect 3-0 against St. Bonaventure recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Saturday. The Musketeers will square off against the Seraphs at 10:00 a.m.

On Friday, Moorpark came up short against Royal and fell 9-5. The Musketeers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Moorpark saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Blake Guy, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Another was Cameron Johnson, who scored a run while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

Meanwhile, St. Bonaventure entered their tilt with Bishop Diego on Friday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They were the clear victors by a 12-3 margin over the Cardinals.

Aaron Byrd was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. Seamus Sipe also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

St. Bonaventure kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.1 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matches they've averaged 10.

Moorpark now has a losing record of 7-8. As for St. Bonaventure, their victory bumped their record up to 11-7.

Moorpark skirted past St. Bonaventure 4-2 in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Musketeers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
