Baseball Recap: Murrieta Valley Comes Up Short

Murrieta Valley was the 4-3 winner over Temecula Valley when they last played one another back in April of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Nighthawks fell just short of the Golden Bears by a score of 6-5 on Monday.

Murrieta Valley got a good showing from Brody Valle, who pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave Valle a new career-low in walks (zero).

On the hitting side, Murrieta Valley saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Riley Kujawa, who went 2-for-3 with two runs. Kujawa has become a key player for the Nighthawks: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 4-17 otherwise. Another was Wes Gomes, who went 1-for-4 with three RBI.

Murrieta Valley's loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 7-18. As for Temecula Valley, their record is now 14-11.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Golden Bears beat Murrieta Valley by a score of 5-3 on Tuesday.
