Football Game Preview: Clinton Gaels vs. Mashpee Falcons + How To Watch

The Clinton Gaels will face off against the Mashpee Falcons at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Clinton is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games.

Clinton's defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Nipmuc Regional 42-0. Considering the Gaels have won five matchups by more than 28 points this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Clinton got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Gavin Naughton out in front who rushed for 175 yards and two touchdowns on only eight carries. Those 175 rushing yards gave Naughton a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Connor Cox, who rushed for 128 yards and three scores on only ten carries.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Clinton proved: they limited Nipmuc Regional to a paltry 1.7 yards per carry. While one picked up at least eight total tackles, Cox stood above the rest. He rushed for 128 yards and three TDs on only ten carries. Clinton didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 10.5.

Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for Mashpee's offense. They had to suffer through a 33-0 loss at the hands of Cohasset. Having soared to a lofty 35 points in the game before, the Falcons' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Mashpee's loss dropped their record down to 5-2. As for Clinton, their victory bumped their record up to 6-2.
