            Baseball Recap: Maynard Tigers vs. Advanced Math & Science Academy Eagles        
        
		
        
        
            Maynard extended their losing streak  to three  on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 11-6 in the process. They were a single  run away from ending the streak, but they lost  a   3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Advanced Math & Science Academy Eagles. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Tigers of the  8-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture  back in May of 2022.

 Max Mandler was a  force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he  struck out 12 batters over  6.1 innings while giving up just one earned  (and two unearned) runs off   four  hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't  tossed less than seven  strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.
 At the plate, Maynard saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was  Kyle Letsky, who  went 1-for-2 with one  double and one  RBI.
As for Advanced Math & Science Academy, their victory was  their fifth straight at home, which  pushed their record up to 12-6. Those  home  wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as  they  averaged 8.2 runs over those games.
On Advanced Math & Science Academy's side,  Cole Scully spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two  runs (both of which were unearned)  on four hits.
 On the hitting side,  the team  relied heavily on  Trevor Petty, who  went 3-for-4 with two  stolen bases, two  doubles,  and one  run. Those  two  doubles gave  him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was  Liam Thornley, who  got on base  in two of his three plate appearances with two  stolen bases.
 Looking ahead, Maynard will challenge Assabet Valley RVT at 2:30  p.m.  on Friday. As for Advanced Math & Science Academy, they will face off against West Boylston at 3:30  p.m.  on Friday.
