Baseball Recap: Woonsocket Beats Burrillville for Their 14th Straight Victory

Woonsocket faced Burrillville in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Villa Novans walked away with an 8-3 victory over the Broncos. The Villa Novans' win was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.

Braylon Guilbeault made a big impact no matter where he played. He pitched seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. Guilbeault was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

In other batting news, Woonsocket let CJ Bousquet and Cesar Vazquez Jr. run wild. Bousquet went 2-for-4 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI, while Vazquez Jr. went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Those two doubles gave Bousquet a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Joseph Greenless, who went 1-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

Woonsocket was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .394. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Burrillville only posted a batting average of .233.

Woonsocket's victory was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-0. As for Burrillville, their defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 6-4.

Looking ahead, Woonsocket will welcome Exeter-West Greenwich at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Scarlet Knights will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Villa Novans surely won't give up without a fight. As for Burrillville, they will head out to face off against Ponaganset at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
