Softball Recap: Coleman Comets vs. Breckenridge Huskies
Coleman extended their losing streak to four on Friday, dropping their season record down to 4-12 in the process. They lost 11-2 to the Breckenridge Huskies. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Huskies this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-0 on Friday.
Klaira Sysak made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and one triple. That home run was her first of the season.
As for Breckenridge, they have been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 13 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-9 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.4 runs over those games.
On Breckenridge's side, Leah Wale made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits. Wale has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 4-for-5 with six RBI, two doubles, and one run. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high.
