Basketball Recap: Falls Lake Comes Up Short

Falls Lake was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They fell 59-49 to the NCSSM: Durham Unicorns. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Firebirds this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 68-52 on January 9th.

It was another big night for Jay Peng, who went 5 for 10 on his way to 13 points in addition to six assists and three steals for NCSSM: Durham. Another player making a difference was Alex Caza, who posted 12 points along with five boards and three steals.

Falls Lake's loss dropped their record down to 4-11. As for NCSSM: Durham, with the win, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 8-7.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Falls Lake will face off against Franklin Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Franklin Academy's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last seven matches. As for NCSSM: Durham, they will take on Research Triangle at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. NCSSM: Durham is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57.3 points per game this season.
