Baseball Recap: Pittsburg Find Success

Pittsburg won the last time they faced Sulphur Springs and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Pittsburg Pirates walked away with a 5-1 victory over the Sulphur Springs Wildcats. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Pirates.

Kord Johnson made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out eight batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, Carter Lankford was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March of 2024. Nick Styles also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Pittsburg's record now sits at 6-1. As for Sulphur Springs, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-5 record this season.

Pittsburg will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Pleasant Grove at 7:00 p.m. on March 28th. We've got a battle between Wildcats coming up.
