Baseball Game Preview: Olentangy Braves vs. Springboro Panthers

The Olentangy Braves will face off against the Springboro Panthers at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Olentangy comes in on eight and Springboro on nine.

Olentangy is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They had just enough and edged out Lakota West 3-1. That's two games straight that the Braves have won by exactly two runs.

Meanwhile, Springboro faced Perrysburg in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Panthers walked away with a 5-1 victory over the Yellow Jackets.

Colten Muhlenkamp spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on three hits.

At the plate, Adam Smith was excellent, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs. Another player making a difference was Vince Fortkamp, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Springboro was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .391. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Perrysburg only posted a batting average of .091.

Olentangy's win was their 12th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 27-7. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Springboro, their win bumped their record up to 27-9.
