Baseball Recap: Hamburg Comes Up Short

Hamburg has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 3.92 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Friday. They fell just short of the Frontier Falcons by a score of 10-8. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Bulldogs have suffered since May 14, 2024.

Jonah Moscato made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season. Max Gladke was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

This is the second loss in a row for Hamburg and nudges their season record down to 8-4-1. Even worse, they were so close both times: the losses came by an average of only 1.5 runs. As for Frontier, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season.

Hamburg will venture away from home to square off against Orchard Park at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Bulldogs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Quakers have averaged an impressive 6.7 runs per game this season. As for Frontier, they will welcome Iroquois at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Redhawks will roll in looking for their ninth straight win, something the Falcons surely won't give up without a fight.
