Baseball Recap: New Canaan Comes Up Short

New Canaan fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Darien on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Blue Wave by a score of 3-2. That's two games in a row now that the Rams have lost by just one run.

Zak Joslin spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, New Canaan saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Thomas Shullman, who went 1-for-4 with one run and one double. That double marked the first that Shullman has hit this season.

New Canaan now has a losing record of 8-9. As for Darien, they pushed their record up to 8-6-1 with the win, which was their third straight on the road.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. New Canaan will challenge Westhill at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Darien, they will host Notre Dame Prep at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
