Baseball Game Preview: Paint Valley Bearcats vs. Unioto Shermans

Paint Valley is 0-10 against Unioto since April of 2018 but things could change on Friday. The Bearcats will challenge the Shermans at 5:15 p.m.

It was a proper cat-fight when Paint Valley challenged Southeastern on Wednesday. The Bearcats took a 10-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Panthers.

Meanwhile, Unioto posted their closest win since May 8, 2024 on Wednesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-6 victory over Huntington. With that win, the Shermans brought their scoring average up to 6.1 runs per game.

The team relied heavily on Keegan Snyder, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs. Another player making a difference was Jaxon Zickafoose, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Unioto always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .548. The last time their OBP was this high was back in May of 2024.

Unioto has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.2 runs over those games. As for Paint Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-9-1.

Paint Valley came up short against Unioto in their previous matchup on April 7th, falling 3-0. Can the Bearcats avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
