Ravenscroft wins going away against Cary Academy

The Ravenscroft Ravens came tearing into Tuesday's contest with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 19.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They enjoyed a cozy 41-27 win over Cary Academy. Given Ravenscroft's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 99th, while Cary Academy is ranked 353rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

It was another big night for Ellie Cronin, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Ravenscroft's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jj Mitchell, who scored four points along with five rebounds and four steals.

Despite the defeat, Cary Academy saw an underclassman step up: Annalise Dematteis scored nine points along with seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was Mehitabel Surafeal, who scored nine points.

Ravenscroft has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a massive bump to their 17-8 record this season. As for Cary Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-13.

Ravenscroft will head out on the road to challenge Durham Academy at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Durham Academy will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Ravenscroft surely won't give up without a fight. As for Cary Academy, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against St. Mary's at 5:30 p.m. St. Mary's is coming into the game with four straight defeats on the road, meaning Cary Academy will have to defend against a squad hungry for a win.
