Basketball Game Preview: Eldred Yellowjackets vs. Bridgehampton Killer Bees

The Eldred Yellowjackets will take on the Bridgehampton Killer Bees at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Eldred comes in on nine and Bridgehampton on 16.

Eldred is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Monday. They strolled past Greenburgh-North Castle with points to spare, taking the game 54-39.

Eldred relied on the efforts of Trai Kaufmann, who dropped a double-double with 25 points and 12 boards, and Koen McGill, who dropped a double-double with 17 points and ten rebounds. The game was Kaufmann's ninth in a row with at least 16 points.

Meanwhile, Bridgehampton earned a 53-42 win over Varsity Opponent last Sunday.

Eldred better keep an eye on Alex Davis. He was instrumental in Bridgehampton's win, shooting 41% from the field on his way to 16 points and eight rebounds. Those eight boards gave Davis a new career-high. Jaylen Harding was another key player, putting up seven points in addition to six assists and six rebounds.

Bridgehampton smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 11 consecutive matchups.

Eldred's record now sits at 14-3. As for Bridgehampton, their record is now 20-1.

Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as the two teams are some of the highest-scoring teams around. Eldred hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 55.2 points per game. However, it's not like Bridgehampton struggles in that department as they've been averaging 68.2 points. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can put up more.

Eldred lost to Bridgehampton on the road by a decisive 67-50 margin when the teams last played back in March of 2016. Can Eldred avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
