Volleyball Recap: San Antonio Memorial Comes Up Short

San Antonio Memorial was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They came up short against the Navarro Panthers, falling 3-0. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Minutemen of the 2-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in August of 2015.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-15, 25-17, 25-17.

Samantha Diaz paced San Antonio Memorial's offense, picking up five kills. Diaz got some help from Alexandra Diaz and her nine assists. Arelia Villa and Aaliyah Alvarado kept things locked in from the service line: the pair finished with two aces apiece.

Navarro was led to victory by Avery Sisak and Reagan Schimonsky. Sisak had 19 assists and six digs, while Schimonsky had six digs and three aces. That's the most aces Schimonsky has posted over her last five matches. Piper Fox also deserves some recognition as she served her first aces of the season.

San Antonio Memorial's defeat dropped their record down to 11-14. As for Navarro, their win bumped their record up to 14-15.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. San Antonio Memorial is set to square off against their familiar foe La Vernia at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Navarro will challenge rival John F. Kennedy at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
