Softball Recap: Frostproof Comes Up Short

If Frostproof was feeling good fresh off their 19-9 takedown of DeSoto County last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Frostproof Bulldogs fell just short of the Avon Park Red Devils by a score of 8-7 on Monday. The Bulldogs were not able to make up for their defeat to the Red Devils from their previous meeting back in March of 2024.

Ella Leppert stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-4. Leppert is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season. Another player making a difference was Menzie Neal, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Having lost for the first time this season, Frostproof fell to 2-1. As for Avon Park, they pushed their record up to 3-1 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season.

Frostproof didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 12-3 loss against Sebring on the 27th. As for Avon Park, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 13-3 defeat against St. Cloud on the 27th.
