Baseball Recap: Caldera Victorious

It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Caldera ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Bend Lava Bears 2-1. The victory was some much needed relief for Caldera as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Carson Downing spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on seven hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Caldera is 2-1 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 1-6 otherwise.

Caldera's win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 3-7. As for Bend, their defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 10-4.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Caldera is set to face off against their familiar foe Ridgeview at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Bend will take on rival Redmond at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
