Basketball Recap: Commerce Extends Winning Streak to Three

Commerce waltzed into their contest on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came out on top against Tyler HEAT by a score of 63-56. The win was all the more spectacular given the Tigers' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 262nd, while Tyler HEAT are ranked 77th).

Tyler HEAT lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Waker Hartman, who went 7 of 17 en route to 19 points and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Coen Starr, who posted 13 points and eight rebounds.

Commerce is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season. As for Tyler HEAT, they moved to 15-2 with that defeat, which also ended their 15-game winning streak.

Commerce didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 46-43 loss against Martins Mill on the 14th. As for Tyler HEAT, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 64-41 victory against Timpson on the 14th.
