Baseball Game Preview: Ecole Classique Spartans vs. Kennedy Cougars

The Ecole Classique Spartans will take on the Kennedy Cougars on Monday. Ecole Classique has given up an average of 7.2 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Ecole Classique came into their game on Thursday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 13-3 to Frederick A. Douglass.

Meanwhile, after only one run in their last contest, Kennedy made sure to put some runs up on the board against Wright on Friday. Kennedy blew past Wright 19-13. Considering the Cougars have won four games by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Dorrian Dunham and Calvin Grant did most of the damage at the plate: Dunham scored two runs and stole five bases while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances, while Grant scored a run and stole five bases while going 2-for-5. Kennedy is 5-1 when Grant posts two or more stolen bases, but 0-6-1 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Kamron Shields, who scored three runs and stole three bases while going 1-for-4.

They weren't the only ones working in the hit department: Kennedy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Kennedy has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-7-1 record this season. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to strikeouts: they averaged an imposing nine strikeouts in those games compared to only 3.25 in the others. Ecole Classique's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2.

Ecole Classique might still be hurting after the 17-4 loss they got from Kennedy when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Can Ecole Classique avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
