Basketball Game Preview: Chewelah Cougars vs. Mary Walker Chargers

The Chewelah Cougars and the Mary Walker Chargers will round out the year against one another at at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. Both have had a bumpy ride up to this point with eight consecutive losses dating back to last season for Chewelah and 11 for Mary Walker dating back to last season.

Chewelah lost 50-27 to Davenport on Saturday. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 307th, while the Gorillas are ranked 38th).

Meanwhile, Mary Walker was beaten by Odessa 70-20 on Friday.

Mary Walker's defeat dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Chewelah, their loss dropped their record down to 0-7.

Everything came up roses for Chewelah against Mary Walker in their previous meeting back in January of 2019, as the team secured a 58-14 victory. In that contest, Chewelah amassed a halftime lead of 34-7, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Saturday.
