Basketball Recap: Veritas Christian Academy Piles Up the Points Against Varsity Opponent

After losing to Varsity Opponent the last time they met, Veritas Christian Academy decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Warriors took their matchup on Thursday with ease, bagging a 79-28 win over Varsity Opponent. The Warriors pushed the score to 66-23 by the end of the third, a deficit Varsity Opponent had no chance of recovering from.

Leading Veritas Christian Academy to victory were Lee Burgess and Owen Foote. Burgess went 7-for-11 to rack up 17 points along with seven steals and five assists, while Foote shot 50% from the field en route to 20 points and six assists. What's more, Burgess posted three boards, the most he's had since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Finn Cope, who shot 67% from the field on his way to 15 points and five rebounds.

Veritas Christian Academy has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Coming up, Veritas Christian Academy will challenge Community Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Varsity Opponent has already played their next contest (against First Baptist Academy), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
