Creekside Christian Academy picks up tenth straight win at home

Recap: Creekside Christian Academy Cougars vs. Calvary Christian Knights

The Creekside Christian Academy Cougars won against the Calvary Christian Knights last Tuesday with 75 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Thursday. Creekside Christian Academy blew past Calvary Christian 75-53. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Creekside Christian Academy has posted since December 4, 2023.

Leading Creekside Christian Academy to victory were Laila Placide and Skye Hunter. Placide dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds, while Hunter scored 18 points along with nine rebounds and five assists. Placide is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now posted two or more in the last five games she's played. Kyra Ware was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with seven rebounds and three blocks.

Despite the loss, Calvary Christian saw an underclassman step up: Makayla Elizabeth reed scored 30 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Elizabeth reed hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Emily Carstarphen, who scored six points along with eight rebounds.

Creekside Christian Academy pushed their record up to 12-5 with that victory, which was their tenth straight at home. They've been dominating during the matchups in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 21.8 points. As for Calvary Christian, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-8 record this season.

Creekside Christian Academy won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Central Christian at 7:00 p.m. on January 19th. Hopefully Central Christian focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Thursday. As for Calvary Christian, they will head out on the road to challenge Southland Academy at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
