Softball Recap: Northeast Takes a Loss

Northeast extended their losing streak to four on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 4-5 in the process. They lost 19-0 to the Clarksville Wildcats. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wildcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-0 back in March.

As for Clarksville, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games.

For Clarksville's part, Johanna Williams looked comfortable as she tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Williams has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Abby Koyama was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Those two hits gave her a new career-high. Brooke Wright was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Northeast has already played their next contest, a 14-0 defeat against Pope John Paul II on the 16th. As for Clarksville, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 6-5 loss against Stewart County on the 16th.
